The Philippines is more than just white sand beaches & resort destinations. Haribon Travel unravels the world of conservation work to Haribon members; transforming them from tourists to champions for biodiversity. Participants are brought to Haribon project sites where they learn how community empowerment leads to the conservation of these areas.

Latest updates from the field

In 2014 Haribon brought members to Lobo, Batangas and San Salvador Island, Masinloc where participants got their feet wet in conservation work in marine areas via Haribon Blue Travel.

In 2015, members joined Haribon Green Travel in Sitio Pangotloan, Barangay Mahabang Lalim, General Nakar, Quezon Province. It is located within the Mt. Irid-Angelo Important Bird Area 33, part of the Southern Sierra Madre Mountain Range. Participants were treated to local food delicacies, joined group games, and played activities with local children. They also learned how to use “tain”, a fish catchment tool for sustainable fishing.

Objective
To provide a holistic learning experience to participants through immersion in Haribon communities working in terrestrial areas through Haribon Green Travel and coastal areas through Haribon Blue Travel, with activities ranging from bird watching, vermi-composting, and trekking to mangrove planting, snorkeling, and fish identification.
